Welcome to the Falmouth Bike Lab!
|
Falmouth Bike Lab is an all-volunteer community bike shop focused on helping people get access to bikes. We take in donated bikes, refurbish them and give them away for free. We also provide helmets, hi-viz vests, and lights - all you need to buy is a lock (we do not sell locks, so best to buy one beforehand). We will also guide you through doing your own basic repairs.
Bike Lab is located at 205 Teaticket Highway, Teaticket, MA - in the beautiful Teaticket Park. Our shop is not visible from the road, but if you park in the upper parking lot across from Cumberland Farms and walk down the hill you’ll find us. A search for Falmouth Bike Lab in Google maps will drop the pin right over our front door. We are open to the public every Thursday night from 6pm to 9pm, year-round. On Thursday nights in summer we often fill up most of the lower parking area with bike stands and people working on bikes, as well as clients waiting for bikes or learning how to take care of their own bikes. We won’t do the repair for you, but we will provide the tools, guidance, and parts you need to get your bike going. We rarely close, but in extremely cold winter weather we might skip a night as our shop is not very warm.. |
Looking for a bike?
Do you need a bike to get around town? FBL may have one for you. You can get in touch by messsaging us on Facebook, emailing us at falmouthbikelab@gmail.com or leaving a voicemail at (774) 255-3123. Or you can stop by any Thursday evening from 6pm-9pm and we'll try our best to get you set up. Our stock is constantly changing, but we usually have a selection of bikes suitable for kids and adults.
They're all the same price, too: free.
We operate on a first-come, first served basis - there is a whiteboard where you can add your name when you arrive, and this will secure your place in line as long as you don’t leave the premises. In summer we have a high demand for bikes, and we often have low stock or even run out of bikes - so the earlier you get in line, the more bikes will be remaining for you to choose from. While we open at 6pm on Thursdays, we often put the sign up board out as early as 5;30pm.
You must show up in person to get a bike, and must sign the legal liability waiver form. Please don’t send a friend to pick up a bike for you.
